Norwegian Seafood Imports into South Korea Surge 37%

South Korea's imports of Norwegian seafood experienced a significant 37% increase in volume through March 2025, compared to the same period last year. The cumulative import volume reached 31,781 tons, an increase of 8,520 tons from 2024's 23,261 tons. This represents 14% of South Korea's total seafood imports, which stand at 234,669 tons. In March 2025 alone, 6,703 tons of Norwegian seafood were imported, a 33% increase from the 5,058 tons imported in March 2024. Analyzing imports by category, frozen mackerel saw a substantial 47% increase, reaching 21,663 tons compared to 14,746 tons in the previous year. Conversely, fresh salmon imports declined by 21%, falling to 3,207 tons from 4,040 tons.
